PURPOSE:To obtain a video display means for switching an input automatically in response to application purposes by including a means for switching a video signal from a video signal sending means while placing higher priority over a video signal from a video signal generating circuit and giving the result to a display means. CONSTITUTION:In utilizing a character graphic information network system (CAPTAIN), a receiver 10a of a telephone set 10 calls the CAPTAIN center. A CAPTAIN video signal is inputted to a processing circuit 9 via telephone lines l5, l6. The processing circuit 9 forms a RGB signal required for a video display, inputs it to a encoder 20 via lR, lG, lB, the signal is converted into a video signal and led out to a point l11. On the other hand, the converting signal drives a drive means 13 to change over a relay switch S2, a line l5 is changed over to the position of the CAPTAIN, and the CAPTAIN video image is displayed on a display means 7. Then the user uses a key pad 11 to select a program. When the utilization is finished, the using charge is displayed and a switch SW3 is turned off to restore a television broadcast or the receiving state of a fixed image pattern.
