PURPOSE:To shorten a machining cycle time by constituting a captioned device so as to index a turret head in the state of capability of rotation in relation to a turret in nearly finished state of the turning back motion of the turret base. CONSTITUTION:The main section of a captioned device is composed of a main feed shaft 4 driven by a main motor 5, a rotational mechanism 24 driven by a motor 21 for indexing to rotate a turret head 9, and a clutch means 40 for releasing the engagement of a tool spindle 10 and main spindle motor 17. Then, in nearly finished state of the turning back motion of a turret base 3, the engagement of the tool spindle 10 and the main spindle motor 17 is released so that the turret head 9 may be rotated in relation to the turret base 3. And then, the motor 21 for indexing is driven to perform indexing. As a result, since it does not take a long time only for indexing, a machining cycle time can be shorten.
