PURPOSE:To prevent a crack from occurring in a protecting film by forming a portion where the protecting film does not exist on a portion of a region near the profile of a substrate of an element having a thin film pattern coated with the protecting film. CONSTITUTION:A thin magnetic film of a predetermined pattern with a magnetic substance having magnetic resistance effect is adhered to a mirror-finished surface of a substrate 1 having moisture resistance to form a magnetic detector 2. Two electrodes 3, 4 are formed to adhere a conductive substance so as to be superposed on the end of the pattern of the magnetic substance for forming the detector 2. A protecting film 5 is adhered on the upper surface of the detector 2 and the electrodes 3, 4 with the pattern of a conductive substance.
