<p>Reinforced plastic material is produced by impregnating a layer of asbestos mat and a layer of sisal fibres, which is either placed against the asbestos layer or separated from it by a permeable layer, with a thermosetting resin, the sisal layer being situated behind the asbestos layer in the impregnation direction, and curing the thermosetting resin, opt. with intermediate shaping operations. Gives a reinforced plastic material in which the asbestos is wholly impregnated with the thermosetting resin. The material is very flame resistant and has a high tensile strength. Used for the prodn. of building panels, doors of car bodies.</p> |
