PURPOSE:To facilitate the restart of an engine just after hot-stop of the engine in energization control of a bimetal heater for actuating a choke, by energizing the bimetal heater for a predetermined time after a stop of the engine in addition to the control in accordance with the temperature of cooling water. CONSTITUTION:A heater 4 is provided at one side surface of a bimetal 9 adapted to give a resistance against the opening operation of a choke valve 3, and a cooling water temperature sensing switch 34 disposed in a circuit 11 for energizing the heater 4 closes the choke valve only when the temperature of the engine is low. A timer switch 35 which is arranged in parallel with the cooling water temperature sensing switch 34, is turned on for a predetermined time after the ignition switch being turned off, so that the condition of release of choke valve operation for restarting the engine at once in a hot engine condition after the engine stopping, is sustained, to enhance the starting ability of the engine.
