PURPOSE:To obtain a Zr alloy having superior corrosion resistance even in a solution containing highly oxidizing NO3 by providing a composition containing prescribed amounts of Sn in a Zr matrix. CONSTITUTION:The corrosion-resisting Zr alloy has a composition containing 0.1-21wt% Sn in the Zr matrix. In the Sn-added Zr alloy, the potential causing superpassivity corrosion is high as compared with Zr and resultingly corrosion is hard to processed even in the highly oxidizing solution of nitric acid. Moreover, the superpassivity corrosion potential can further be shifted in the direction of noble electrode potential by limiting the amount of Fe and Cr contained in the Zr alloy of this invention as strength-improving components or as inevitable impurities to a fixed quantity or below. At this time, when the total amount of Fe and Cr is reduced to 0.18% or below, the superpassivity corrosion- occurring potential is remarkably increased and a so-called passivity range can be enlarged.
