PURPOSE:To increase the tension difference between the tight side and the slack side, prevent a ribbon from sagging and enhance printing quality, by pressing an elastic body against a belt part extended from the slack side to the tight side to thereby exert a feeding load on a belt, in a belt drive type ribbon cassette for a printer. CONSTITUTION:A loop form elastic belt 14 is fitted to feeding rollers 12, 13 located respectively at left and right corners of a cassette 10, and an elastic body E is pressed against the belt 14 at a central part between the rollers 12 and 13. The elastic body E may be formed of, for example, a foamed polyurethane material, but is is not necessary that the entire part of the body E be formed of the same material. For instance, the part of the body E brought into contact with the belt 14 may be formed of a material having a relatively low frictional resistance while a base part may be formed of an elastic material such as a sponge. Also, the base part may comprise a spring. Such an elastic body E is fixed in the cassette 10, and is pressed against the belt part extended from the slack side to the tight side, thereby exerting a feeding load on the belt 14.
