A portable engine is provided. The engine has a fan cover (25) fixed to a front surface of a crankcase (1) to cover a fan (23) and to guide upward a blow generated by the fan (23), and a cylinder cover (29) disposed behind and in series with the fan cover (25) to cover an engine cylinder (5) and to guide the blow toward the engine cylinder (5). The portable engine is characterized by a partition plate formed integrally with said crank-case (1) to cover a step formed between said fan cover (25) and said cylinder cover (29), and by an ignition coil (37) fixed to said partition plate. According to this arrangement, heat of the engine cylinder (5) will not directly transmitted to the ignition coil (37) to deteriorate the function of the ignition coil (37). |
