PURPOSE:To provide an inorg. paint which gives a coating film having excellent hardness, heat resistance, etc., by blending a fired mixture of a zinc oxide source, a metal or silicon oxide source, an alkaline earth metal oxide source and a boron oxide source with a water-soluble silicate and polysilicon phosphate. CONSTITUTION:65-98wt% (in terms of zinc oxide and a metal or silicon oxide) mixture (A) of a zinc oxide source and a metal or silicon oxide source of the formula MxOy (wherein M is a metal selected from among groups III-VIII metals of the periodic table or silicon) in a molar ratio of 9:1-1:9 is mixed with 35-2wt% (in terms of alkaline earth metal oxide and boron oxide) mixture (B) of an alkaline earth metal oxide source and a boron oxide source in a molar ratio of 9:1-1:9. The resulting mixture is heated at 600-2,000 deg.C. 100pts. wt. resulting fired product is blended with 30-200pts.wt. water-soluble silicate and 10-200pts.wt. water-soluble polysilicon phosphate to obtain the desired inorg. paint.
