PURPOSE:To improve the shelf stability of a water soluble silver salt as well as durability, operability and reliability and to easily and quickly measure the concn. of chloride in liquid with good accuracy by depositing a reagent compsn. contg. the water soluble silver salt as an effective component and non-reducing saccharides on a test piece. CONSTITUTION:The reagent compsn. consisting of the water soluble silver salt such as silver nitrate, adsorption indicator such as 2,7-dichlorofluoresceine and buffer having pH in a 4-7 range and a stabilizer consisting of the non- reducing saccharides are dissolved in water or an org. solvent which can be mixed with water. Filter paper is immersed into such soln. The test paper after drying is adhered to a plastic sheet and is cut to a suitable size to prepare the test piece. Mannitol, sucrose, alpha-, beta- or gamma-cyclodextrin, etc. are usable as the non-reducing saccharides. These saccharides are usable independently or in plurality and the amt. thereof to be used is 0.1-50wt%, more preferably 1-10wt%.
