PURPOSE:To maintain approximately constant the balance property over the pivotable range for smoothing the opening and closing when an opening and closing roof is opened and closed, by using a balance mechanism for changing the action point of tension balancing with the gravity of said roof according to the opening of said roof. CONSTITUTION:An end of a balance spring 25 is mounted on a base 25a incorporated pivotably adjustably in the lower portion of a base plate 20 mounted on a car body. And the other end is connected to a slide pin 25d in a slot 24e of an amplifying lever 24f through a reversing pulley 25c by a connecting wire. Further, the front end of an amplifying lever 24f is slided along a horizontal guide member 24a and the rear end is interlocked with the opening and closing of an opening and closing roof. Thus, the balance spring 25 is displaced according to the opening J0-J8 of said roof so that the balance property between the tension and gravity of said roof is maintained approximately constant over the pivotable range of said roof to smooth the opening and closing of said roof.
