PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of counting by a method wherein the number of washing bodies, which flow out of a ball retrieving vessel, is limited in the cleaning device for a condenser or the like for a steam power generating plant, in which the balls are employed. CONSTITUTION:Cleaning bodies are stored in a ball retrieving vessel 14 after cleaning. A valve 56 is switched to a bypass series 20 and another valve 50 is switched to a position connecting the bypass series 20 to a ball circulating pump 7. Subsequently, the outlet port valve 52 of a fore ball retrieving vessel 13 is switched to the position of retrieving. Thereafter, the outlet port valve 53 of the ball retrieving vessel is held in slightly opened temporarily and the same valve is fully opened (circulation) subsequently. According to this operation, the cleaning bodies, stored in the ball retrieving vessel 14, are retrieved into the fore ball retrieving vessel 13 through a ball circulating series 11, the bypass series 20, the ball circulating pump 7 and a ball counter 12.
