<p>Title BA-8508A HERBICIDAL ORTHO-SULFAMOYL SULFONAMIDES A class of ortho-sulfamoyl sulfonamides are useful as pre-emergent or post-emergent herbicides and plant growth regulants. The compounds of the invention are defined by the following formula: where Q is NR1R2 ; R is H. Cl. Br. F. OCH3, CH3 or CF3; R1 is H. C(O)R3. C(O)NR4R5, CO2R6, C(O)NHR9 or CF2H: R2 is H or C1-C3 alkyl; R3 is C1-C4 alkyl. CF3 or aryl optionally substituted with Cl. CH3. CF3, NO2 or OCH3; R4 is H, C1-C4 alkyl or aryl optionally substituted with Cl, CH3. CF3, NO2 or OCH3; R5 is H or C1-C4 alkyl; R4 and R5 may be taken together to be -(CH2)4-, -(CH2)5- or -CH2CH2OCH2CH2-; R6 is C1-C4 alkyl; R7 and R8 are independently H or CH3: R9 is A-1: A is A-l A-2 A-3 A-4 A-5 A-6 X is Cl, Br, CH3, CH2CH3, OCH3, OCH2CH3, OCF2H or CF3; Y is H, NHCH3, N(CH3)2, CH3, CH2CH3, CF3, OCH3, OCH2CH3, CH2F, CH2OCH3, CH2OCH2CH3, OCH2CH2OCH3, SCH3. SCH2CH3, OCH2CF3, OCH2CH2F, OCH2CH2Br, OCH2CH2Cl. CH(OCH3)2, CH(OC2H5)2, or OCF2H; Z is CH or N; X1 is O or CH2; Y1 is H, CH3, OCH3 or Cl; X2 is CH3, OCH3 or SCH3; Y2 is CH3, CH2CH3 or CH2CF3; X3 is CH3 or OCH3; and Y3 is H or CH3; and their agriculturally suitable salts; provided that a) when R1 is H, then R2 must also be H; b) when R1 is CONHR9, then A must be A-1 and the values of X, Y and Z must be identical for both A and R9; c) when X is Cl or Br, then Z is CH and Y is NCH3, N(CH3)2, OCH3, OCH2CH3 or OCF2H; and d) when X or Y is OCF2H and Z is CH then R1 must be other than H or C(O)(C1-C3 alkyl).</p> |
