PURPOSE:To enable a vehicle to perform its stable running, by arranging a means, which selects a running range, almost on the same axis so that an unnecessary speed change is inhibited. CONSTITUTION:A running range selector device is constituted as one example of I-type pattern, in which a change lever is shifted to a corresponding running range position, or of rotary switch type, in which the running range position is aligned with a mark, and a running range is selected by a selecting means by arranging each running range position almost on the same axis. The running range selector device 1, in which a movable contact 3 is slided on a fixed contact 4 by shifting a change lever or a knob and the like. turns of the contact corresponding to the running range in an optional running range position. A control unit 2 discriminates the running range by a signal Vn.
