PURPOSE:To provide the titled additive exhibiting excellent fluidity and storage stability over a wide pH range, which comprises a particular nonionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant. CONSTITUTION:An alkylene oxide contg. 60-100wt% ethylene oxide is reacted with a compd. having at least one active hydrogen in its molecule (e.g., lauryl alcohol) in an amt. of 10mol or more of the alkylene oxide per functional group of the compd. to obtain a nonionic surfactant (A) having an average MW of 1,500-30,000. 5-95wt% aforesaid component A is mixed with 95-5wt% amphoteric surfactant (B) (e.g., N-hydroxyethyl-N-alkylamide glycine salt) to obtain an additive for water-slurried coal. To this water-slurried coal are added 0.1-1.0wt% aforesaid additive (based on coal) and, if necessary, a protective collid agent, a fluidity modifier, a silicone defoaming agent, etc.
