摘要 PURPOSE:To facilitate handling a coating agent and facilitate control of coating, by supporting a heat-fusible coating agent in a thin film form, and applying it to an image surface of a recording paper through melting by heating. CONSTITUTION:A heater 16 for a heated cover 15 is constituted of a heating element capable of self-controlling to a fixed temperature through an increase of resistance with an increase in temperature, or a heating system wherein energization is controlled based on a temperature detected by a temperature sensor. When a coating roller 12 is heated, a coating agent 13 exudes from the inside of the roller 12 to form a thin coated film thereof on the surface of a hollow roller 14 in a molten state. When a recording paper 18 recorded with an image is fed into a coating device under this condition through a guide plate 18, it is fed between a roller 12 and a pressing roller 17, when the roller 12 makes contact with the image-recorded side of the recording paper to spread the coating agent over the entire surface of the image-recorded side of the paper. In the subsequent process of discharging the recording paper onto a tray 12 by a guide plate 19 and a roller pair 20, the coating agent on the paper is solidified through cooling to become a coated layer on the surface of the recording paper.
