<p>Alpha-branched satd. aliphatic percarboxylic acids prodn. Per-acids of type CR'R2R3.CO3H (where R' = 1-4C n-alkyl, R2 = Me or Et, and R3 = H, Me or Et, obtd. by oxidation of the corresp. aldehyde with O2 or O3 in presence of a heavy-metal catalyst, are freed from unreacted aldehyde by distilling the latter off at reduced (20-300 Hg) pressure in presence of O2 (not 0.005 mol/ml aldehyde). O2 inhibits the decomp.: R, CO3H R.OH + CO2.</p> |
