PURPOSE:To enable a hard copy to be formed having images with favorable resolution, high density and a lustrous feeling, by providing an image-receiving layer comprising a sublimable dye receiving resin having a specified thermal deformation temperature and a releasing agent and having a specified surface roughness and a specified surface glossiness, on a base sheet. CONSTITUTION:An image-receiving sheet for thermal transfer comprises an image-receiving layer comprising a sublimable dye receiving resin and a releasing agent on a base sheet, in which the thermal deformation temperature of the resin is not lower than 100 deg.C, the surface roughness of the image-receiving layer is not more than 1mum, and the surface glossiness of the layer is not less than 80%. The resin is selected from, for example, a group consisting of a polycarbonate, a polysulfone, a polyacrylate and the like. The releasing agent, which prevents the image-receiving layer and a dye layer from being welded to each other at the time of recording, is selected from, for example, a group consisting of a silicon compound, a fluorine compound, a higher fatty acid, a metallic salt thereof, a surfactant and the like, and one highly compatible with the resin is preferred. With this image-receiving sheet, a transferred image with favorable resolution, a lustrous feeling and high density can be obtained. |
