<p>Welding together of two hollow cylinders of metal, positioned side by side, coaxial grooves of identical diameter and depth having been machined into the bores of the cylinders along their contact areas, a metal ring being used to fill up the gap so created. The welding heat is applied from the outside penetrating the and melting the area. The method is employed for the welding together of gear teeth, which are aligned by means of a common mandrel and are pressed together during the welding operation. The role of the ring is to act as protectant for the mandrel and contain the molten weld metal.</p> |
