PURPOSE:To shorten a communication time by substituting scan length information, where errors are detected before retransmission, with retransmitted block information and inhibiting the retransmission request if the number of errors does not exceed a prescribed value though errors whose number exceeds the prescribed value are detected in one retransmitted block information. CONSTITUTION:Block information 4 is received; and if a prescribed number of or more scan length information which are not restored after MH decoding are included, correctness/error discrimination data C is generated and data retransmission is requested to the transmission side. For example, if said prescribed number is defined as one, retransmission is requested because two scan length information L2 and L3 which are not restored are included. Scan length information which are not restored are defined as scan length information L1' and Li' with respect to data retransmitted to the reception side, and only scan length information L2' and L3' corresponding to timings of '1' of correctness/error data are extracted from retransmitted data, and scan length information L2 and L3 are substituted with them. Since the number of scan length information which are not restored is zero in block information 4 obtained in this manner by one retransmission, the retransmission request is unnecessary.
