PURPOSE:To normally control the position of a flowcell with a simple operation, by detecting positional relationship between the flowcell and optical axis of irradiation through an optical carry sensor dependingly on the state of light distribution of a laser beam on the flowcell. CONSTITUTION:A passage section 2 of a sample liquid is arranged at the center of a flowcell 1 while a laser light source 3 is arranged alongside it. When the center of the cell 1 aligns the optical axis within a plane vertical the optical axis of irradiation, the output waveform of a light array sensor 9 shows a perfect Gaussian distribution and axial adjustment is made by detecting the disturbance of the distribution. So to speak, the cell 1 is driven in the direction orthogonal to the optical axis through a link 11 through a motor 12. The rotation of the motor 12 is detected by an encoder 13 and the output pulse is outputted to a counting section 14. An output of the sensor 9 is connected to an edge detecting section 15 and a monitor 16 while an output of the detecting section 15 is connected to a control section 17 to rotate the motor 12 through a driving circuit 18. Signals are transmitted and received between the control section 17 and the counting section 14.
