PURPOSE:To provide the titled apparatus for the steam reformation of hydrocarbon, containing uniformly heated reforming tubes and having compact size, by placing plural reforming tubes and a burner under specific conditions and connecting the outlets of the reforming tubes through a connector to a manifold. CONSTITUTION:Plural reforming tubes 1 are arranged on two perpendicularly crossing lines point-symmetrically about the furnace center of the reformation furnace. Burners 2 for supplying the heat for reaction are arranged in the same manner as the reforming tubes 1 point-symmetrically on the line dividing the angle of a row of the reforming tubes 1 into equal angles. The bottom outlet of the reforming tube 1 is connected to a manifold 4 through a connector 3 to construct the objective apparatus. A hydrocarbon raw material and steam are supplied to each reforming tube 1 and subjected to the steam reformation reaction in the presence of a catalyst filled in the reforming tube 1 while uniformly heating the reforming tube 1 from both sides with the heat of combustion of the burner 2. Finally, the produced mixed gas is collected from the outlet of the reforming tube 1 through the connector 3 to the manifold 4.
