PURPOSE:To attain half tone display by generating voltage attenuation from low resistance bus bars such as metallic bars formed at least one of upper and lower bases to the side of a transparent electrode in accordance with electrode length. CONSTITUTION:The low resistance metallic bus bars 3, 4 are formed on the high resistance transparent electrode as scanning electrodes to generate voltage attenuation from the metallic bars in accordance with the electrode length. Thus, a half tone can be displayed by using the voltage gradient. In this case, a metallic coat selected from Cr, AlTa, Au or the like or a conductive resin layer on which conductive grains such as metallic powder and graphite are dispersed is used for each low resistance bus bar electrode.
