PURPOSE:To realize a subscan controlling method which cannt be stopped emergently with only a small capacity of a line memory, by controlling selectively the subscanning speed in accordance with the volume of picture signals stored in the line memory. CONSTITUTION:The information fed through an incoming path 1 of picture signals whose redundancy is suppressed and coded is stored in a buffer memory 2 and then converted into the information of 1 line through a decoder 3 to be stored in a line memory 4. The 1-line information of the memory 4 is recorded by a recording circuit 6. The subscanning speed is controlled by a subscanning speed control part 7 every time a line is recorded. In this case, the next subscanning speed VNEXT is decided as VNEXT=Vj+1, VNEXT=Vj and VNEXT=Vj-1 in the case of LM>j, LM=j and LM<j, respectively, where LM is the line memory capacity detected by a line memory capacity detecting part 5 and Vj is the present subscanning speed. In such way, the feed variance due to the variation of speed can be reduced since the subscanning speed is varied by one step. Furthermore, the scanning can be stopped at the minimum subscanning speed even in an emergent stop mode and when the memory 4 is free. |
