PURPOSE:To prevent adsorption of superfine molecules while maintaining air and water-permeability, by coating the surface of a porous ceramic thick film type moisture sensing element with a mesh-structured resin thin film. CONSTITUTION:A comb-shaped electrode 2 is formed on an insulating substrate 1 and covered with a porous ceramic moisture-sensing thick film 3. The surface of the thick film 3 is coated with a protective film 4 consisting of a mesh- structured resin thin film. A lead 5 of the electrode 2 is led out of a part of the substrate 1. Depending on the moisture environment, where the moisture- sensing element, the resistance value between the leads 5 varies, thereby allowing the moisture to be measured or detected. In addition, the surface of this moisture-sensing element is coated with a resin thin film which air and water-permeable but impervious to organic gas or the like. This prevents adverse effect on moisture-sensing property and moreover, can inhibit adsorption of organic gas such as smoke of tobacco on the moisture-sensing film.
