<p>The surface temperature of strip in rolling mill can be measured by measuring the temp. rise of a gas which flows radially inwards along a narrow gap between the surface and a probe. The probe is a divergent funnel with orifices at the base through which gas impinges on the rolling stock. Most of it flows radially outwards and acts as a screen but a part flows radially inwards and is extracted through a central hole. Its temp. rise is a function of the surface.</p> |
