<p>A way to cultivate microorganisms and produce contact between gas and/or liquid medium and contact elements where a mixing of medium and contact elements is effected by bringing the medium in contact with contact elements of both higher and lower density than the medium. The contact is optimated by revolving of containers which can be connected with each other for a gradual treatment and are turned in different ways and contains contact elements of different relative number, density and size depending on the art of medium and on how far the treatment has proceeded. The torsion is caused by displacement of weight inside the containers. For instance in the first step there is partly perforated cylinder (1, 2) supplied with longitudinal shovels (8) from where gas, produced in the cylinder, is pressing fluid so that a radial displacement of weight and torsion is made. The cylinder is adapted in an surrounding container (3) in some distance from it. The distance is tightened by a spiral (4) mounted round the rotatory cylinder. The spiral is partly directing the medium in among the contact elements in the inner cylinder, and partly feeding forwards solid particles which have fallen out through the perforation. In another step particles are collected in the upper part of a mainly vertical container so that light contact elements will be pressed down into the lower part of the container and cause a displacement of weight, turning the container round an axis (18) located on half the height of the container. In the upper part of the containers, light contact elements will be collected, pressed together and forming a filter (25). In containers and cylinders, baffles (5) are arranged guiding the medium to pass an optimal number of contact elements during the treatment. Procedure and arrangement are especially useful by purificaction plants and establishments for production of biogas.</p> |
