PURPOSE:To efficiently transmit the sensible heat of the secondary combustion gas in a steel making furnace such as converter to a molten metal by burning the gaseous CO generated in the furnace by oxygen for secondary combustion and transmitting the heat thereof via specific heat medium particles to the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The gaseous CO by the oxidation of C in a molten iron 2 is generated in the stage of producing a molten steel by blowing oxygen from a top blowing lance 3 to the molten iron 2 in the converter 1 and producing the molten steel by making oxidation decarburization refining. The oxygen C for secondary combustion is, therefore, blown from plural tuyeres provided diagonally upward on the side face of the furnace to burn the CO and the heat thereof is transmitted to the molten metal 2. The heat medium particles 10 consisting of TiN, etc., having the intermediate specific gravity of the specific gravities of the molten metal 2 and molten slag 5 and having 5-30mm diameter are interposed between the molten metal 2 and the molten slag 5 as the method for transmitting the heat. The combustion heat of CO is transmitted to these particles 10 and further transmitted to the molten metal 2, by which the secondary combustion heat of CO is efficiently transmitted to the molten metal 2 and the thermal efficiency of the converter is improved. The effect is additionally improved if plasma-injected oxygen or gaseous mixture composed of excess O2 and H2 is used as oxygen for secondary combustion. |
