PURPOSE:A hair treatment, e.g. permanent waving agent, semipermanent setting agent or fixing agent for hairdressing, containing deoxyribonucleic acid or a salt thereof, and having improved waving effect and wave retaining effect. CONSTITUTION:A hair treatment, containing deoxyribonucleic acid or a salt thereof, e.g. Na or K salt, in an amount of 0.01-5.0wt%. The deoxyribonucleic acid or the salt thereof has cationic, anionic and nonionic sites in the molecule thereof and the property of bonding to the ionic sites of keratinous protein in the skin and adsorbing easily on the skin surface by the mutual action, and is capable of combing the hair by giving lubricity thereto and imparting a comfortable feeling. A sufficient effect is obtained even if the amount of an alkali agent, e.g. aqueous ammonia, is small, and therefore an uncomfortable odor is not smelt. |
