The hydrodynamic transmission system comprises an oil transmission power unit consisting of a variable-volume hydraulic pump 3 driven by the engine 1 of the vehicle, constantly with zero output, and a hydraulic motor 5 keyed to the component that it is desired to rotate 6 and connected by a closed circuit 7 to the said pump 3. A control device 10 makes it possible to adjust the zero output of the pump at will to a positive output, so driving the motor 5. The hydrodynamic transmission system is particularly suitable for fitting to fire engines, allowing the component 6, in this case a water pump, to be used whenever desired without the need to stop the vehicle. <IMAGE>
