Mortice or case lock with a projecting and retracting bolt and an electronically controlled latch. The lock is characterised in that a magnetic clamp (2m) displaceable in a recess (2t) in two longitudinal slots (2a) is so arranged relative to a pivotable tumbler carrier (2) functioning as an armature that the latter, as a result of the special design of the notch (2r) and the tumbler pin (2u) connected to the tumbler carrier (2), bears, in the latch tail (8b), on the magnetic clamp even when the latter is not loaded with current, and that the tumbler pin (2u), together with the tumbler carrier (2w), can come loose from the (non-loaded) magnetic clamp (2m) under the weight of the tumbler carrier and the pressure of the spring (2x) and slide into the guide notch (2r), without the variation in position of the latch (8) being influenced. The movement of the latch (opening of the door) from outside is possible only when the magnetic clamp is made live by means of a code card with a special coding and the outer door handle is actuated. Without a current load, the door handle runs idly. <IMAGE>
