The invention relates to a clamshell grab with dust-protection flaps pivotably attached to the grab shells for covering the grab contents when the grab shells are closed. Adjusting means ensure that the dust-protection flaps are opened before or at the start of the closing of the grab shells, and control means serve to close the flaps after the closing of the grab shells. This ensures that, even in the event of the grab being overfilled, excess material can flow off unimpeded, but undesirable escape of the material on the subsequent transport path is avoided.
