Modern couplings are difficult to operate as a result of the aim of creating a good contact between the current-carrying parts. The subject-matter of the invention improves this in that the flap of the plug socket is used as a wedge or as a toggle lever to disconnect the coupling. Sprung inserts, whose effect can be reinforced by additional springs, are used for easy assembly of the plug pins and sockets with wires and braided cables. The easy disconnection of the coupling offers the advantage of managing without clamping tools during production of the housings. In consequence, production is improved and made cheaper. Furthermore, rings which hold oil and lubricate bushes and plug pins are fitted on the subject-matter of the invention. In order to protect the plug pins against contamination, the oil rings are placed in the plug between two plates which automatically move to and fro on the plug pins when the coupling is operated. In order to offer good seating for the cable securing clamps they have the same shape as the interior of the housing, to which they are closely joined.
