1,219,443. Developing electrostatic images. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. June 27, 1968 [July 1, 1967], No.30771/68. Heading G2H. A reversal development process, in which developer adheres to a relatively low charged portion of the charged pattern on an insulating surface 2 rather than the charged pattern 4 having the maximum charge density, uses an uniformly charged insulating surface facing a conductor 3 to reproduce a liquid developed image with continuous gradation avoiding edge effect. As shown, the image surface and uniformly charged surface are common and comprises a photo-conductive material on a conductive support. Part A of the surface 2 is uniformly charged and exposed while part B is uniformly charged to the same polarity. The surface 2 is then spaced uniformly from a conductor 3. Lines of force extend from the conductor 3 to the part A and from the part B to the conductor. The voltage V 1 of the part of the latent image having maximum charge density is chosen so that it is equal or greater than V 2 S 2 /s 1 + s2 where S 1 is the area having such charge density, V 2 is the potential of the uniformly charged insulating surface, and S 2 is the area of such surface. |
