A xerographic powder developer containing (a) a finely divided toner material comprising (i) a colorant which is carbon black or a dye (ii) a thermoplastic resin formed by polymerization or copolymerization of a monomer containing a CH 2 =CH- or CH 2 =C# group having a melting point of at least 110‹ C. and (iii) as ester of o-phthalic or m-phthalic acid or 4, 5-epoxy tetrahydro pthalic acid or a compound having a melting point between 115‹ and 270‹ F. selected from the compounds of formulae: - wherein n is a positive integer from 1 to 7 and R is an esterifying radical of 3 to 12C; wherein R<SP>111</SP> is hydrogen, C<SP>I</SP>, Br, aryl or alkyl 1-6C and R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> are, H 1 aryl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkenyl or alkyl 1-12C and wherein n1 is zero or a positive integer from 1 to 3 and m has an average value from 0À5 to 2À5 and (b) a carrier for said toner particles and/or from 0À02-20 % based on the weight of said toner particles of at least one hydrophobic metal salt of a substituted or unsubstituted fatty acid or unsaturated fatty acid. Numerous examples of each component are provided. The carriers exemplified are NaCl, NH 4 Cl, ammoniumchloride, aluminium potassium chloride, Rochelle salt, sodium nitrate, aluminium nitrate Kclo 4 , granular zircon, methyl methacrylate, silicon dioxide and glass which may be coated with ethyl cellulose or a terpolymer of butyl methacrylate, styrene and vinyl triethoxy silane. |
