PURPOSE:A polyester is copolymerized with an ester-forming component bearing metal sulfonate groups, polyethylene glycol and biscarbophenoxyethane at a specific ratio and melt-extruded into fiber to give the titled fiber of high resistance to alkaline hydrolysis. CONSTITUTION:(A) An ester-forming component bearing metal sulfonate group such as 5-sodiosulfoisophthalic acid, (B) polyethylene glycol, and (C) 1,2-bis(4- carbophenoxy)ethane are added as copolymer components in the following ranges: 0.8<=A<=3.5mol%, 1.0<=B<=10.0wt%, 2.0<=C<=20.0mol%, to a polyester mainly composed of ethylene terephthalate units. The melted copolyester is melt-extruded into fiber and wound up over 5,000m/min to give the objective polyester fiber. |
