<p>The preforms are made using a combination of impregnation, drying, glazing and gelling processes. Impregnation is with one or more types of fibre, pref. glass fibres 40 mm. long, and is achieved by placing the fibres in a bath contng. the resin as a latex of 0.1 - 10 mu. particle size, a thickening agent giving a viscosity of 5 - 500 cP, and opt. additives such as filler, pigment and stabilisers. The product from the drying stage is chopped into primary pieces and subjected to glazing-gelling at elevated temp. and press. The pieces are in a form of ideal use for storage, transportation and shaping.</p> |
