<p>Injection moulding press has two parallel platens carrying the mould halves, one platen being fixed and the other movable, the fixed platen being provided with injectors. The material to be moulded is injected into the interior of the mould before it is completely closed, and a strong pressure is applied to the movable platen to complete the mould closure and compress the moulding material. The movable platen pref. comprises two parts - the piston and the cylinder of a hydraulic jack with a short stroke, one of them carrying the mould while the other is attached to the drive of the platen which permits only a partial closure of the mould, complete closure and compression being brought about by the hydraulic jack. Injection of the material into the mould before complete closure and compression ensures a homogeneous, accurate moulding.</p> |
