A bistable rocker arm, moved by a tapered push rod or rocking lever, co-operates with a contact spring blade and a coiled wire spring. Pivoted about a horizontal axis, it has notch at one end into which a termination of the wire spring is fitted. The wire is immobilised under stress in a fixed bearing (7) parallel to the notch, and its other end is upturned to pivot from its middle position to either limit position. When thearm rotates the released energy of the spring drives it into its alternative stable position, deflecting the contact blade.
