The drive system comprises a series of shaft drives, each employing a hysteresis rotor. The rotors are arranged with their axes parallel in a common rotating field provided by a single stator winding so that the flux of each stator winding simultaneously acts on more than two rotors. - Pref. the rotors are arranged in several stages enclosed by a common stator field. The rotors may be enclosed by a vacuum vessel within the stator field.
