An antistatic film comprises a propylene polymer substrate and a polymeric heat sealable surface layer characterised by the presence on its external surface of a compsn. (I) of (a) quat. NH4 salt R4OZCH2NR1R2R3 X- (where R1-R3 are H, 1-6C alkyl or R1 and R2 are each methylene gps. within a common 5 or 6 membered satd. heterocyclic ring; Z is methylene gp. when R4 is H or =15C acyl or Z is carbonyl when R4 is H and X is univalent anion of equiv. of a polyvalent anion), (b) 3-12C polyol contg. >=2 free OH gps. and nc) glyceride of a =22C fatty acid. Heat sealable, uniformly antistatic packaging films may be formed despite variations in ambient relative humidity. The films run well on packaging machinery.
