PURPOSE:To expand the sectional area of a lube oil passage for a dynamic valve mechanism without any increase in the wall thickness of a cylinder block by providing said passage having two types of such a passage at diagonal positions opposed to each other on both bunks of the cylinder block. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder block 1 has a plurality of cylinders respectively in right and left bunks A and B, and a water jacket 3 is formed between the wall of a cylinder block 1 and a cylinder sleeve 2. In this case, lube oil as pressure fed to an oil gallery 17 by a lube oil pump is supplied to a branched oil passage 19, a lube oil passage 20 for a bearing cap 10 and grooves 22 and 22a for each bearing hole 21 and 21a, thereby lubricating a space between a crank shaft 13 and a bearing metal 14a. Also, a part of lube oil is fed to a dynamic valve mechanism at the upper part of a cylinder head via lube oil passages 24 and 9 within the cylinder block 1. And each lube oil passage 24 and 9 leading to the dynamic valve mechanism is provided at a diagonal position for the bunks A and B respectively.
