PURPOSE:To avoid generation of knocking, by anticipating the knocking, generated when an engine is placed in a high loaded condition due to rapidly decreasing an engine speed, and increasing a delay timing correction amount to a large value, when the knocking is anticipated, so that ignition timing is early corrected. CONSTITUTION:A drop rate detecting means (c), which detects an engine speed drop rate on the basis of an output of an operative condition detecting means (a), is provided. While a predetermined basic advance and delay timing correction amount, correcting a delay timing correction amount, is set so as to suppress knocking, and a correction coefficient setting means (d), which sets a correction coefficient further correcting the predetermined basic advance and delay timing correction amount in accordance with said engine speed drop rate, is provided. And a control device, calculating a delay timing correction amount by an arithmetic means (e) from the basic advance and delay timing correction amount and said correction coefficient while newly calculating a delay timing correction amount by an arithmetic means (f) on the basis of said delay timing correction amount and the detection result of a knock detecting means (b), corrects the basic ignition timing by an ignition timing setting means (g) in accordance with the arithmetic result so as to output an ignition signal. |
