PURPOSE:To improve the weather resistance of a molding without detriment to the appearance, transparency, etc. of the molding, by depositing an ultraviolet absorber on the surface of a polycarbonate resin molding and bringing it into contact with the vapor of a good solvent for said resin. CONSTITUTION:An ultraviolet absorber (e.g., 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone) is deposited on the surface of a polycarbonate resin molding. The molding is brought into contact with the vapor of a solvent capable of dissolving the polycarbonate resin to improve the weather resistance of the molding. Examples of the solvent are dichloromethane, dioxane, dimethylformaldehyde, acetophenone, cyclohexanone, thiophene, etc. Contact time is 10sec to 180min. The resulting polycarbonate resin molding is suitable for use as a glass substitute in the fields of building materials, automobile, etc. |
