Cpds. are triacylated hydroxylamines containing the group -CO-O-N(R1)R2 (in which R1 is opt. subst. benzoyl or C1-4 alkanoyl and R2 is the same, or opt. subst. C1-4 alkyl, or aryl sulphonyl. R1 and R2 may also together be succinyl or phthalyl.) Pref. compounds are O, N-diacetyl-N-(p-toluenesulphonyl)- and O-propionyl-N, N-succinyl hydroxylamines. Used in detergents containing percompounds e.g. perborates to reduce temp. at which oxidation and bleaching take place, and in the bleaching of textiles.
