<p>A process for the preparation of a 2,3-epoxyamide of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 represents hydrogen or straight-chain or branched C1-C8-alkyl, which may be substituted by phenyl or halogen, or represents C3-C7-cycloalkyl, phenyl, C1-C8-alkoxycarbonyl, or a group of the formula <IMAGE> in which R4 and R5 are identical or different and denote hydrogen, phenyl, benzyl, acetyl or C1-C8-alkyl which is optionally substituted by phenyl or halogen, R2 represents hydrogen or an amino protecting group and R3 represents a radical which activates the methylene group, comprising reacting a 2-halogeno-3-hydroxyamide of the formula <IMAGE> in which X represents fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, with an alkali metal hydroxide in an inert solvent.</p> |
