<p>Hydrocarbon fractions are purified by contacting at a temp. above 315.6 degrees C in the presence of under an elevated pressure with a metal sulphide catalyst having hydrogenating activity from groups VI B or VIII dispersed in an alumina support having a pore diameter of at least 100 A. Gives hydrocarbon fractions with an acceptable metal content, which do not deactivate catalysts or cause corrosion of apparatus. Esp. useful for purifying heavy fractions of residues.</p> |
