<p>The covering consists of a mixture of a material (e.g. nylon) which is positive in the tribo-electric series with respect to a range of shoe sole materials (e.g. leather, rubber) and a material (e.g. polypropylene which is accordingly negative. The materials may be mixed to produce a homogeneous floor covering or may be in fibre form for insertion into carpers. The floor covering doesn't charge up electrostatically since the maximum and minimum frictionally induced potentials between the covering and a shoe sole are zero.</p> |
