摘要 <p>High speed rotary shaft driven by gas jets, supported by two bearings each of which comprises at least three external wheels bearing at regular intervals (120 degrees or less) around one diameter of the shaft, with seal rings of a low friction material, specific., coated with 'Teflon' (RTM) to isolate the centre of the shaft from the atmosphere surrounding the bearings and the impeller blades. Esp. for supporting the mirror of a high speed 'slit aperture' camera, with the mirror in an evacuated chamber. Good balance, long life and cool running because the bearing races are rotating relatively slowly. The thin, low friction seals have low inertia, sustain the vacuum, exclude bearing lubrication or other contamination. The shaft is self-centering.</p>
