PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion properties from being degraded because of corrosion in a steel cord reinforced tire by utilizing a steel cord of a specified elongation at break, which is formed by intertwining each of strands comprising plural number of element wire of a specified diameter including slender element wire. CONSTITUTION:At least one of three to five pieces of element wire 1 having a diameter of 0.10-0.4mm is an element wire 1a having a small diameter of 70-95% of the element wire 1, and these element wire 1 and 1a are arranged along the circumscribed circle of a stand 2 so as to form the strand 2. Then the strand 2 is reinforced by reinforcing rubber 3, and more than tow strands are intertwined to form a steel cord, the elongation at break of which is more than 4%. And a tire is reinforced by this steel cord. Owing to this constitution, the empty space at the center of the strand can be made smaller so as to prevent water from penetrating in the longitudinal direction for preventing both corrosion and the peeling of rubber even if any water invades through external broken points. |
